Objective of Steamboat Mountain School Merit Scholarship

The main objective of the Steamboat Mountain School Merit Scholarship is to provide good and quality schooling to the kids, so they can have an experience that will build their character. Students who achieve academically, exhibit leadership, and have a global perspective are eligible to receive $10,000 to $30,000 per year through the SMS Global Scholar Award. Recipients are chosen through an essay or video application, and this prize encourages students who are keen to have an influence both locally and globally. Founder’s Scholarship for Academic Excellence

Global Scholar Award

• The SMS Global Scholar Award honors outstanding students who exhibit a strong dedication to leadership, service, and global views in addition to their academic excellence. This esteemed scholarship is given to those who actively work to improve their communities both domestically and internationally, have demonstrated a great desire to learn about various cultures, and are concerned about global challenges. 

Eligibility criteria

• Given to boarding students starting the ninth grade.
• The following states will be given preference: California, Arizona, Florida, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Texas, and Utah. 
• As long as the student maintains a GPA over 3.0, the awards, which range from $10,000 to $30,000, are renewable annually for a maximum of four years. 
• In order to be considered for this prize, applicants must either write a 300–500-word essay or upload a one–to three-minute video clip outlining their qualifications.

Ski and Snowboard Scholar Award

• The Ski and Snowboard Scholar Award honors outstanding students who perform academically and competitively in winter sports and who are starting the ninth or tenth grade. A high academic record and active participation in the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club (SSWSC) are eligibility prerequisites. Supporting student-athletes who exhibit commitment, tenacity, and achievement in the classroom and on the hill is the goal of this merit-based award.

Eligibility criteria

• Given to new boarding students in the ninth or tenth grade who plan to participate in the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, the awards will cover the cost of the SSWSC program (not including competition, travel, or lodging costs). 
• They are renewable annually for a maximum of four years as long as the student maintains a 3.0 GPA.
• In order to be considered for this prize, applicants must either write a 300–500-word essay or respond with a one–three-minute video.

Financial assistance

• As long as the student maintains a GPA over 3.0, the awards, which range from $10,000 to $30,000, are renewable annually for a maximum of four years.
• The student must maintain a 3.5 GPA in order for the $15,000 grant to be renewed each year.
