Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships 2025

For students in Ireland who are neither EU or EEA, the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships 2025 is a distinguished scholarship. Every year, 60 spots are given out among all Irish higher education institutions. Good foreign students who want to study in Ireland at NFQ levels 9 or 10 (master’s, postgraduate diploma, or PhD) are supported by the Government of Ireland foreign Education Scholarship (GOI-IES) program. The program is run by the Higher Education Authority and sponsored by the Irish government in collaboration with Irish higher education institutions (HEIs). The program offers 60 scholarships annually for a year of full-time study at NFQ levels 9 or 10.

Objective of Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships

The primary objective of the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students who want to study in Ireland. This scholarship will make their dreams come true and help them in the higher studies. A stipend of €10,000 is awarded as part of a Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship for a year of full-time study at NFQ levels 9 or 10. For the year of their scholarship, the recipients must get a complete fee remission from their host higher education institution. Successful students are expected to start their studies in September or October of 2025.

Eligibility criteria

  • Applicants must be from a country other than the UK, Switzerland, or the EU/EEA in order to be eligible for a Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship. 
  • In accordance with the admissions policies of the appropriate higher education institution, candidates must first apply for admission to a master’s, postgraduate diploma, or doctoral program provided by that institution. 
  • When applying for the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship, applicants must have a conditional or final offer of admission to that higher education institution, and they must provide a copy of that offer. 
  • Applicants are not permitted to apply if they have already received a GOI-IES scholarship. In light of Russia’s ongoing aggression in Ukraine, citizens of Belarus and Russia
