Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for applying to this program are given below:-
- Possess citizenship in or have received refugee status from a Commonwealth nation that qualifies.
- Be a permanent resident of a Commonwealth nation that qualifies.
- By the time the scholarship begins in September 2025, you must be enrolled in a PhD program at an institution in a Commonwealth nation that qualifies.
- Make sure the proposed UK university and the home university have an institutional or departmental connection. - Be ready to enroll in classes in the UK in September 2025.
- Hold a first degree with at least upper second-class (2:1) honours by September 2025, or a lower second-class degree plus an appropriate postgraduate degree (often a Master’s degree).
- Be ineligible for this scholarship if they want to study in the UK.

Financial Assistance
- Approved flight from the Scholar’s home country to the UK and back at the conclusion of the award (the CSC will not repay the cost of journeys done prior to the award being confirmed, nor will it reimburse the cost of fares for dependents).
- The complete cost of tuition is paid by the agreement between the CSC and the UK university, and scholars are not responsible for paying any portion of it.
- The stipend (living stipend) is £1,378 per month (quotes current levels) or £1,690 per month for students attending universities in the London metropolitan region.
- Allowance for warm clothing, if any.
- Research travel grants to help pay for study-related travel in the UK or abroad.
- The child allowance for a scholar who is widowed, divorced, or a single parent is £590 per month for the first kid and £146 per month for the second and third children under the age of sixteen, provided that the children live with the scholar at the same UK location.

- A copy of a current passport (or national ID card) with a photo, birth date, and citizenship country on it serves as proof that the person is a citizen or has refugee status in an eligible Commonwealth nation.
- Complete transcripts of any degrees earned, including current transcripts for any courses taken, together with certified translations in English if not.
- The application will be deemed ineligible if any transcripts are missing or do not contain all pages.
- At least two people’s references, in PDF format, signed, on official letterhead, or in an email with the sender’s information prominently displayed.
- A supporting statement from a potential supervisor in the UK from the organization listed on the application form, in PDF format, signed, and on official letterhead, or an email with the sender’s information clearly visible.
